The F-Word…

Today’s discussion: Feminism

Ladies, gents, and so forth,

Let’s throw this word against the wall and see what sticks – if you’re expecting a blind hatred of the male sex, please hide your disappointment when it slaps to the floor.

Feminism is the belief that both sexes should be equal: socially, economically, politically. Now, if you’re reading this and don’t share this sentiment of shared equality, I’m afraid this blog may not be for you, but feel free to come along for the ride anyway.

Perhaps you’d be more comfortable labelling yourself an ‘equalitist’ than a ‘feminist’ – herein lies the issue: the ‘fem’ prefix, it sits uncomfortably for some. But what is pro-woman is not anti-man. In fact, feminism is not just pro-woman, it is pro-everyone. Pro- men being able to feel and cry and/ or smile with teeth and so on.

So, then, why feminism and not equalitism? Well, because we live in a patriarchy, a society which traditionally places the male sex first. On this blog, we address that.

Stay tuned, dear patriarchy.

Lots of love,

L
